Flexifoil are thrilled to hear that Jerrie van de Kop from Holland is ripping it up on the Kitesurf Tour Europe this year. With a 5th in the freestyle in both Sylt and Italy and taking the kiteloop crown in Sylt, he is showing Europe just what Flexifoil products can do.
We hear from Jerrie after the Kitesurf Tour Europe stop in Sylt, Germany..
"From June 28th till July 3rd I attended the first stop of the European Kite tour on the isle of Sylt (GER). Sylt always brings me good memories, since I won my first international event in the Kite Surf Trophy. A Year later in 2009 I got 6th in the KPWT tourstop. Conditions in Sylt can be tough, but are not so different from the conditions in Zandvoort (HOL). Actually, I'm rather used to do my tricks on choppy water, I maybe even like it.
The European Tour is very well organized and this year it was combined with the World Cup Race. More then 140 kitesurfers competing in race and freestyle was a very spectacular showpiece for many spectators. The wind was on for the whole week resulting in a complete program of the disciplines, including race, single and double elimination freestyle, kiteloop and best trick contest.
In the single elimination I ended 4th after a close decision in the looser's final against Sebastian Garat. In a rough sea with big waves all riders had difficulties landing their tricks. The next day (Thursday) it was time for the double elimination. Unfortunately I couldn't hold my 4th place after a close decision against Stefan Spiessberger. Nevertheless, I'm very pleased with this result.
Friday was a heavy day in Sylt. On-shore wind around 28 knots and 3 meter waves rolled onto the beach of Westerland. It was time for the kiteloop session. All riders showed spectacular jumps sometimes 10 meters above the water.
In the end the final was me against Nils Wesch. I was so thrilled to win this final. From some of the thousands spectators on the beach I heard that Nils and I showed a performance that was mind-blowing. That was so nice to hear. The news report of KTE mentioned that "the crowd at the beach was fascinated and long aaaaaaaas and oooooooos could be heard along the promenade".
Again Sylt brought me some special memories again. See you next year on Sylt!"
Jerrie
Well done Jerrie and we wish him lots of luck in the next stop in France.
