Snowkite Masters
Team Flexifoil riders from Norway, France and the UK made it their mission to get to the Col du Lautaret for the Snowkite Masters. With flights cancelled all over the place and driving conditions reduced to 30mph in chains, it took the Flexifoil van and the Team days to finally be united in Serre Chevalier. It is such an exciting snow kite event for us. Not only is there a meter of fresh powder, but we have brought together myself, Johara, landboard legend Lewis Wilby and buggy guru Craig Sparkes for their first snowkite experiences, Flexifoil photographer and free rider Richard Boudia, UK classic rider Martyn Hogg and the last but definitely not least, Norwegian AH Pro rider Andreas Toverud in one big chalet of fun!

The first day we arrived there was no wind so we headed up to the resort for some powder heaven before the wind kicked in on Sunday and Monday.

The French Championships ran on Sunday and finished on Monday before we started the World Championships. Andreas was showing off his incredible freestyles and Lewis has definitely found his passion for his third kiting discipline… and is ripping already! They just managed to run a few heats before the wind died for the evening.

Tuesday the forecast was looking good and we all headed up the Col bright and early. The wind had kicked in enough to continue by late morning and all the Flexi team were stoked ready for their heats. Someone thought it would be a fabulous idea to persuade me to enter the ski and snowboard category… bearing in mind I don’t snowboard, that heat was quite traumatic! Craig was very impressive in his first heat pulling off some solid tricks. Lewis was then up against Simone Borgi, pulled out all the stops in his second day of snowkiting with kite loop slims, flat 3s of the kicker and kite loop handle passes… Lewis was ripping and won his heat! The crowd and commentator loved him!   Next up was Andreas, who went for the most stylish heat I saw all day. Super powered kite loops and wake style tricks followed by a huge handle pass of the hill to the left of the judges, which got a huge gasp from the crowd!

Snow is forecast tonight and the wind should be back tomorrow, so watch this space for more news on the Flexi crew at the Col all this week, pictures from Richard Boudia and results on the Snowkite Masters website on the link below.
