Saturday the 9th of July saw the fourth annual Cambourne Extreme Youth Festival take place. An event that has grown each year and sees many hundreds of people from all ages pass through its gates.
One of the main organisers of the festival, David Mcewan Cox, is a keen kiter and has always allowed a large area of the event to be used for kite demonstrations and taster sessions.
This year was no different and Flexifoil team riders Sy Leonard and Lewis Wilby were given a massive section of the field to use.
Among the other attractions at the festival are, BMX, skating, live music, graffitti, zorbs, falconry display, quads, lots of inflatables, tons of great food stalls and not forgetting this years main attraction, the Wall of Death! All of this is laid on free of charge.
Lewis and Sy set up a selection of kites ranging from Buzz's and Stings, right through to Hadlow Pros and no sooner had they started to fly, the queues started to gather for taster sessions.
There were kids from as young as 5 years old right through to old veterans of kiting wanting to try out kites they'd not flown before. It was so good to see so many people who had never tried powerkiting before, getting the hang of it in only a few minutes. The only rest-bite came when the falconry display started and the Flexi riders had to keep the kites out of the sky for half an hour! The event is very well run and there is so much for the whole family to do so the break gave the riders a chance to check out the rest of the festival and take a look at the wall of death!
By 5.30 the festival was ending and it was time to pack up but it had been a very successful (and busy!) day once again.
Both Lewis and Sy will definitely be attending next years festival along with a larger Flexifoil presence, so look forward to more taster sessions, more demos and the chance to buy Flexi gear too!
Special thanks have to go to David and the rest of his team who make us feel very welcome each year and manage to organise a fantastic event. See you next year!
