General Safety

Play safe and fly high

The responsible kiter will know when conditions are just not right to even think about unpacking their kite. It's not always just a matter of your own safety. You also have to safeguard the well-being of the other people using the recreational area around you.

You know it makes sense to:

  1. Live to fly but never take unnecessary risks.
  2. Never underestimate the power of the wind.
  3. Read and understand product instructions and safety warnings.
  4. Wear appropriate safety equipment.
  5. Learn to fly your kite in light winds.
  6. Observe local rules and regulations before flying your kite.
  7. Launch at the edge of the wind window in strong wind.
  8. Never fly in winds that are too strong for your skill level or equipment.
  9. Check all your equipment for wear and tear before each flight - repair or replace as necessary or ask your local Flexifoil retailer if unsure.
  10. Never fly your kite near overhead power cables, telephone lines, trees, roads, airports, cars, railways or fly in extreme weather conditions or at night.
  11. Never tether yourself to anything while flying your kite or use power kites for paragliding or parascending.
  12. Test the kite safety system on your first flight and use it if you feel you’re losing control of your kite.
  13. Select a safe launching and landing area free of people, animals and obstacles.
  14. Never kiteboard without someone onshore looking out for you. They can raise the alarm if you get into difficulties.
