General Safety
Play safe and fly high
The responsible kiter will know when conditions are just not right to even think about unpacking their kite. It's not always just a matter of your own safety. You also have to safeguard the well-being of the other people using the recreational area around you.
You know it makes sense to:
- Live to fly but never take unnecessary risks.
- Never underestimate the power of the wind.
- Read and understand product instructions and safety warnings.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment.
- Learn to fly your kite in light winds.
- Observe local rules and regulations before flying your kite.
- Launch at the edge of the wind window in strong wind.
- Never fly in winds that are too strong for your skill level or equipment.
- Check all your equipment for wear and tear before each flight - repair or replace as necessary or ask your local Flexifoil retailer if unsure.
- Never fly your kite near overhead power cables, telephone lines, trees, roads, airports, cars, railways or fly in extreme weather conditions or at night.
- Never tether yourself to anything while flying your kite or use power kites for paragliding or parascending.
- Test the kite safety system on your first flight and use it if you feel you’re losing control of your kite.
- Select a safe launching and landing area free of people, animals and obstacles.
- Never kiteboard without someone onshore looking out for you. They can raise the alarm if you get into difficulties.
